"The aim of this unit is to develop an understanding of the systems and sub-systems involved in
communication by radio. The way in which information is conveyed by mixing the wanted
signal with a radio frequency carrier is covered, as are the methods by which the signals are
generated and received. The choice of carrier frequency and the resulting effect this has on the
propagation of the signal through free space is also covered, along with the causes and effects
of noise in radio systems."
